Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, says he’s considering a return to Kano Pillars, his former club, for a short-stint.
The former CSKA Moscow forward has been a free agent since exiting Al Nassr in October 2020.
In a chat with BBC Sports Africa, Musa revealed that he has spoken with the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Shehu Dikko, on the possibility of playing a handful of matches for Sai Masu Gida boys.
The former Leicester City player also said the move is to help boost the popularity of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) and maintain his personal fitness.
“After speaking with the governor and chairman of the LMC, I am considering to play some games for Kano pillars,” Musa said.
“Anything that improves the image of Nigerian football is something that I strive to embark on and Kano Pillars holds a special place in my heart.
“It’s the team that helped me become the professional footballer I am today, so this is more than just football but a very strong bond.”
In the 2009/10 season, Musa, in the colours of Kano Pillars, finished the highest goalscorer in the league with a record of 18 goals. The record was however broken the following season by Jude Aneke.
He left Kano for VV Venlo in 2012 and has since risen to a figure of inspiration among the residents of the state.
