Former French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, has been handed a three-year jail term by a court in Paris.
He was sentenced on Monday on charges of bribery and influence peddling.
According to NAN, the sentence includes one year in prison and two years of a suspended sentence.
Sarkozy was accused of offering a lucrative job in a Monaco bank to a senior magistrate in 2014.
In return, he was said to have requested leaked information about a judicial inquiry against him.
The former president was said to have authorised his lawyer, Thierry Herzog, to broker the deal.
Despite the sentence, Sarkozy is enabled to request that his prison term be served at home with an electronic bracelet.
He is also expected to appeal against the conviction.
