Jay-Z has deactivated his Instagram account barely one day after re-joining the social media platform.
The American rapper and Roc Nation mogul had made a profile on the photo-sharing app on Tuesday to promote The Harder They Fall, a new western released on Netflix which had amassed over 300,000 likes.
In less than 24 hours of the account being live, it swiftly racked up 1.9million followers including his wife of 13 years, Beyoncé.
However, Jay-Z deactivated his Instagram account hours later.
A visit to his Insta page is met with the message, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”
Fans have pointed out that the In My Lifetime rapper did exactly the same thing six years ago after joining the platform to wish Michael Jackson a happy birthday.
In 2015, he had created an account with the handle @hovsince96 and shared a picture of himself with Michael Jackson. However, The New York Daily News reports that Jay-Z deleted the page 14 hours later.
The billionaire Brooklyn rapper may consider keeping fans updated on his every move might just be a bridge too far.
Forbes reports that he boasts a net worth “conservatively totals $1 billion, which made him one of only a handful of entertainers to become a billionaire — and the first hip-hop artist to do so.”
Outside of music, Jay-Z investments include a cannabis brand, alcohol, clothing, and a stake in the ride-sharing service Uber.
The Harder They Fall, produced by Jay-Z, features an all-star cast including Idris Elba, LaKeith Stanfield, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo and Jonathan Majors.
Premiering on Netflix on November 3rd, “When outlaw Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) discovers that his enemy Rufus Buck (Idris Elba) is being released from prison, he rounds up his gang to track Rufus down and seek revenge,” the synopsis reads.
“Those riding with him in this assured, righteously new school Western include his former love Stagecoach Mary (Zazie Beetz), his right and left-hand men — hot-tempered Bill Pickett (Edi Gathegi) and fast drawing Jim Beckwourth (R.J. Cyler)—and a surprising adversary-turned-ally.”
