The winner of the 2020 edition of the Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), Olamilekan Moshood Agbeleshe better known as Laycon, has been conferred with the traditional title of Akeweje of Ipokia kingdom, Ogun state.

The title was conferred on him by Yisa Adesola Olaniyan, the Onipokia of Ipokia, on Sunday during the 2021 Opo Day celebration held at District High School.

Speaking about Laycon, Oba Olaniyan described the young star as a good ambassador to Ipokia and a positive inspiration to all Nigerian youths.

The monarch who applauded Laycon as an indigene of Ipokia said he “truly deserved the title of Akeweje.”

Laycon on his part thanked the monarch, indigenes of Ipokia as well as the youths for standing by him throughout his stay at the BBNaija house.

He promised to stand by the youths and everything that would contribute to their development.

In his excitement, the reality star took to his Twitter page to break the news to his numerous fans alongside a video clip from the installation ceremony.

“Chief Olamilekan Agbeleshe, Akeweje Odo of Ipokia kingdom, president of the iCONs,” he wrote.

In another tweet, he revealed that his mother is an alumna of the school where the chieftaincy ceremony was held.

“Fun Fact: The venue where I was given my chieftaincy title is District High School, Ipokia, where my Mum schooled. On every transcendental being that is valid,” he added.

Laycon has continued to make headlines with his tremendous achievements since he won this year’s edition of the reality TV show.

He signed with Fierce Nation, a music label, in 2019 and has released songs like ‘Hip-Hop’, ‘Senseless’, ‘Fierce’, and ‘Narcos’.

On October 6, 2020 he was appointed the youth ambassador, gifted a three-bedroom apartment and sum of N5 million by Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun state.
