The governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has directed the suspension of the nationwide curfew declared by the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 from 12am to 4am.
The decision, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by Taiwo Adisa, chief press secretary to the governor, is to allow cross-over services to hold in the state.
Adisa explained that religious centres are expected to hold cross-over services between December 31 and January 1 in strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
“Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Wednesday, approved the suspension of the 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. curfew earlier imposed on states by the Federal Government, saying that officials of the State’s Task Force on Covid-19 will ensure strict compliance to the guidelines and advisories during the Yuletide and after,” the statement reads.
“The governor has, therefore, directed that religious centres be allowed to hold crossover worship services only in strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.”
