Illbliss appeared in a movie for the first time when he appeared in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys’ in 2018. He actually blew oud minds away being the first time and he took the role of a gangster called “Odogwu Malay”.

The Nigerian rapper fondly called “Oga boss”, got countless reviews for his role in the 2018 political role in the Award winning movie.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, Illbliss revealed that he had his initial fears when he took on the role.

I had my initial fears when I wanted to appear in King of Boys because it was my debut acting appearance .I only dabbled into it. I took a gamble and it worked. It feels good to know that you can try other things outside of your comfort zone and get results from them”

Asked If he was shocked about the success of the flick, he said: “I knew it was a great story, I wasn’t shocked . I knew it was going to work”.

Speaking further, the entertainer opened up on how his 2019 has been.

2019 has been great. I got back in the studio to record I just finished up my fifth studio album and it is going to be released next month December. I worked with Olamide, Johny Drille, Niniola, Phyno and others. Late last year, I made my acting debut in Kemi Adetiba’s ‘King of Boys’, which was unarguably the biggest film of 2018/2019. It’s been good. I have just been chilling, raising my kid and minding my business. Just basically being creative in my own space”.

Sharing his view on the impact of African music in the global music space, he said:“African music has gone global. African music is achieving step by step, it is growing in leaps and bounds and it is a great time to be an African”.

Illbliss stated that he is finicky about the kind of roles he plays in movies, adding that he is going to be involved in more of film productions

“I am very selective about the roles I play in movies, unless it’s Kemi Adetiba again because she comes with the best scripts. I am going to be producing films. I am being picky about it, I just don’t want to cast”.
