Three people have been confirmed dead with many injured after a Turkish plane skidded off the runway after landing, and broke into three pieces on Wednesday, February, 5. Turkish news NTV confirmed the front of the plane including the cockpit was sliced off from the bulk of the fuselage, and another huge fissure separated the rear of the aircraft including the tail. Osun State isolates 76 people over Lassa fever threat.

Osun Government has placed 76 people in isolation suspecting that they could be infected with Lassa fever. The Special Adviser to the governor on Public Health Dr Olasiji Olamiju, confirmed this while addressing press in Oshogbo on Wednesday. He said the 76 persons were quarantined as part of proactive measures of the state government to prevent the spread of the virus in the state. Four out of the people confirmed are doctors. Passenger Plane skids off runway in Turkey breaks into three pieces

A passenger plane has skidded off the runway at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport and cracked into three pieces. The aircraft had flown into Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport from the Aegean city of Izmir in very wet weather, NTV broadcaster reported, showing images of the badly damaged plane and a fire inside. The Transportation Ministry said there were a total of 177 passengers and 6 crew members on board but no casualty has been reported so far. There are no updates on injuries aslo. The ministry says the accident was as a result of ‘rough landing.’

New born baby tests positive to coronavirus in China

A baby born in Wuhan China has been diagnosed with coronavirus hours after birth local media reported. The child is the youngest person recorded as being infected by the virus, which has killed nearly 400 people. Local news outlet CCTV quoted experts as saying it may be a case of “vertical transmission”, referring to infections passed from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth or immediately after birth. The killer disease is believed to have emerged in December in a Wuhan market where wild animals are sold. The mother of the child tested positive to coronavirus before birth.
